DOWN WITH WEBSTER ANNOUNCE OCTOBER 31 RELEASE OF TIME TO WIN VOL. II
“SHE’S DOPE” FIRST SINGLE ALREADY GOLD “BIG WHEELS” TO RADIO SEPTEMBER 9
31 AUGUST 2011 (TORONTO, ON) - The six-sided genre-bending musical juggernaut that is Down With Webster today announced the October 31 release of Time To Win, Vol. II, their follow-up to 2009’s Gold-certified debut, Time To Win, Vol. I. It has been a decade-long climb since forming in junior high school for the Toronto band. With nearly 500,000 singles and over 50,000 albums sold, a Facebook fanbase of 400,000 and hundreds of shows for millions of fans under their belt, there are only greater heights to scale. This second volume marks DWW’s first full-length release. Bigger and better is the mandate, announced by first single “She’s Dope”, which the band performed at the 2011 MMVAs June 19, and has already been certified Gold and reached #1 on MuchMusic. DWW wrote all of the songs on the album and co-produced nearly every track on Time To Win, Vol. II alongside a variety of collaborators, new and old. Two tracks, “Professional” and “I Want It All” are produced by fellow Toronto native and worldwide producing sensation Boi-1da, who produced Eminem’s worldwide #1 smash “Not Afraid” and has worked with many others including Drake. A variety of mixers include Tom Lord-Alge and Demacio “Demo” Castellon, who between them have mixed countless global #1 hits, and hot newcomer, New York-based DJ Swivel (Beyonce). Time To Win, Vol. II was recorded in studios around Toronto, including the band’s own facility, The Garage, and at Diamond Factory and Chill Ville. The album is grander in scope and more musically diverse than its predecessor, and reflects a band growing into their justified acclaim. Songs range from some of the band’s most aggressive, high-energy music to date to a ballad (or, at least, the DWW version of what a ballad would be), and also satisfies demand with a long-anticipated recording of fan favourite “Big Wheels”, which drops at radio September 6. Formed by friends entering a talent contest while still at middle school (which they won), Down With Webster is comprised of MCs Bucky and Cam Hunter, lead singer and guitarist Pat Gillett, bassist/keyboardist Tyler Armes, drummer Andrew “Marty” Martino and Diggy the DJ. Despite disparate influences ranging from hip-hop to jazz to hard rock, DWW found a shared vision early and developed their skills and growing fanbase with relentless touring coupled with constant engagement with fans through social media and via homemade online content that earned DWW 2010 Online Artist of the Year at the Canadian New Media Awards, beating out Arcade Fire and Deadmau5. DWW’s live show is the stuff of legend, cited by fans (including artists and industry heavyweights as diverse as Timbaland, Bootsy Collins, the Roots, 3Oh!3, Gene Simmons and Sir Richard Branson) as one of, if not the best live band on the planet. Simply put, if you have not seen DWW live in concert, you don’t know the band. And this is a band that has become very well-known. In addition to hundreds of concerts, DWW has performed at the 2011 JUNO Awards (kicking-off the broadcast), We Day 2010, the 2010 Grey Cup, and as the first band ever asked to perform on back-to-back MMVA appearances (in 2010 and 2011). Wherever they go, their irrepressible attitude leads the way—for DWW, it’s always time to win. -30- For more information, please contact: Marcus Tamm UNIVERSAL MUSIC CANADA marcus.tamm@umusic.com 416 718 4119 direct universalmusic.ca umusicbiz.ca
