C

FEATURES BRAND NEW SONG “ME AND LIZA”

DELUXE EDITION INCLUDES BONUS DISC OF 16 RARE LIVE AND STUDIO TRACKS

(Toronto, ON – Monday, 09 December 2013) – Featuring 18 classic songs that define one of modern music’s most innovative talents, VIBRATE: THE BEST OF RUFUS WAINWRIGHT will release on March 04 via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. From the 1998 release of his debut album to OUT OF THE GAME in 2012, Rufus Wainwright has played it his way, refusing to be categorized while establishing himself as one of contemporary music’s very best songwriters, singers and performers. For those already familiar with his impressive body of work, this new collection will delight. For everyone else, VIBRATE: THE BEST OF RUFUS WAINWRIGHT serves as a solid gold introduction. Highlights on the standard 18 track disc include “Going to A Town”, “Hallelujah”, “The Art Teacher”, “Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk” and a brand new song, “Me and Liza” co-written with Guy Chambers. The deluxe edition includes a must-have bonus disc of 16 rare live and studio tracks. The bonus disc contains live versions of some of Wainwrights’ best known songs recorded at Kenwood House in 2010 plus “The Maker Makes” from Brokeback Mountain, “La Complainte de la Butte” from Moulin Rouge, new song “Chic and Pointless”, and “WW111”, never before available on a physical release. Without doubt, Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. The New York born, Montreal-bred singer-songwriter has released seven acclaimed studio albums, and two live albums including his fantastic, Grammy nominated RUFUS DOES JUDY AT CARNEGIE HALL. Four of his albums have achieved Gold-selling status in Canada including RELEASE THE STARS (2007), WANT TWO (2004), WANT ONE (2003) and his self-titled debut, RUFUS WAINWRIGHT (1998). Wainwright has also collaborated with many artists including, most recently, Robbie Williams co-writing and dueting on the title track of his SWING BOTH WAYS album. He has also worked with the Pet Shop Boys, Shirley Bassey, Elton John, Antony, David Byrne, Joni Mitchell, Robert Wilson, Lou Reed, Boy George and Mark Ronson. In 2009, Wainwright premiered his first opera, ‘Prima Donna’, and he has just been commissioned to write his second opera by the Canadian Opera Company based on the story of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and Antinoos. The new opera will premiere in Toronto October 2018. The complete track listing for VIBRATE: THE BEST OF RUFUS WAINWRIGHT is: Standard
