JADE BIRD’S VIDEO FOR NEW SONG “FURIOUS” PREMIERES
PERFORMING AT BONNAROO TOMORROW
DEBUT NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR CONFIRMED
The video for “Furious,” the new song from rising singer and songwriter Jade Bird, premieres worldwide today. Watch/share here: http://vevo.ly/8ksGIG. The video, which was directed by Toby Ross-Southall (Something American live videos, Jamie T, The Beach), was shot in a motel in Detroit and highlights a beautifully stripped back and solemn performance by Jade.
“Furious” follows breakout single, “Lottery,” which recently spent three weeks at #1 on Triple A Radio in the US—the first new artist to reach the top of the Triple A chart in 2018. Jade also performed “Lottery” on “Later …with Jools Holland” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“Lottery” as well as her debut EP Something American are out now on Glassnote Records and continue to receive widespread critical acclaim:
“With multifaceted potential, there’s no telling
where this Bird will land.”—NPR Morning Edition
“…an English songwriter with a country-rock streak and a furious
rasp when she gets riled…”—The New York Times
“Jade Bird is serious about being a feminist role model”—Refinery29
“Bird sings wistfully, connecting romantic ideals
to the ethos of the American dream.”—Billboard
Jade is performing at Bonnaroo tomorrow and has also confirmed her first official headlining tour this fall. The new dates will follow a summer of extensive touring with Colter Wall, Anderson East and First Aid Kit. See below for details and upcoming dates.
Born in Hexham, U.K., Jade’s early life was spent mainly in flight as an “army brat.” One of life’s few constants proved to be the influence of strong working women. At first via her mother and grandmother, who largely raised her, but later the female role models within the musical subcultures Jade become obsessed with: from empowering country heroines like Loretta Lynn to iconic alternative songwriters like Patti Smith; Alanis Morisette’s Jagged Little Pill was a similar early touchstone. Jade spoke with Noisey about the influence of these and other women on her music.
