Praise for Flower of the soul:
"Showcases her breathtaking voice over lush, elegant arrangements." - FADER

“Flores’ sound is what you’d imagine fluttering out from the pages of a dusty, leather- bound book of fairytales.”
- Interview Magazine

““Liana Flores blends bossa nova’s radiant warmth with the earnest poetic reflections of folk to create music that flourishes somewhere in the middle.”

27 SEPTEMBER 2024 (TORONTO, ON) — Today, British-Brazilian singer-songwriter Liana Flores announces the expanded edition of her debut album. Flower of the soul (full bloom) will feature two new original compositions, “Strangest shapes” and “Borrow mine,” and will release alongside her first-ever global headline tour. The digital deluxe sees Liana continue to capture life in motion, fusing dreamlike Bossa pop with 60s British folk-inspired vignettes, and meditating on the impermanence of the seasons and the evolving nature of love. Flower of the soul (full bloom) will be released on October 25, 2024, via Verve Records. You can pre-order the digital deluxe here.

To celebrate the announcement, Liana shares the first taste of Flower of the soul (full bloom) with "Strangest shapes," an ethereal, pensive song. In her own words, Liana says of the song, "Strangest shapes describes the quiet everyday forms of love that can connect us to a deeper sense of belonging. I wrote it after enjoying a swim in the ocean with my friend. Listen to the new song here.

Liana has always had an ear for the special moments in music. Growing up in a small town in South Norfolk, she would transcribe songs to her keyboard by ear, before starting piano lessons in primary school and eventually trying her hand at guitar at age 18. She was adventurous from the beginning, learning the bossa nova songs she loved from her mother’s native Brazil in her later teens out of love for the “harmonic language” of the genre.

Blending elements of British folk, classic jazz and Brazilian pop, Flower of the soul is a release that explores transformation in all of its forms and puts a spotlight on a truly singular talent. Liana says, “Flower of the soul explores themes of nature and impermanence, the tension & connection between humans and the natural world, and what changes and remains throughout times of transformation."

Standouts from Liana's debut album include “Butterflies,” which features Latin GRAMMY Nominee Tim Bernardes of Brazilian rock band O Terno, and is one of the most integral parts of the record, a moment of reflection that combines the albums core themes. More highlights include “Nightvisons,” “I wish for the rain,” and “Orange-coloured day,” all of which received critical acclaim.
