NICKELBACK ACCEPTS BC CHARITY CHALLENGE
VANCOUVER MEDIA CALL ON BAND TO MATCH FUNDS OF CHARITY SINGLE - BAND ACCEPTS, ISSUING COUNTER-CHALLENGE TO LOCAL NEWSPAPERS
08 DECEMBER 2011 (Toronto, ON) - Chilliwack band Pardon My Striptease, who penned a song for cancer-stricken one-year-old Lilee-Jean Putt, has found a place on the iTunes Rock singles chart just behind province-mates Nickelback and have issued a challenge through local media for the international hitmakers to match funds raised through their charity single, "Pray (For L.J.)". Nickelback has answered the challenge and now calls upon the media to do the same. "We're moved by the efforts of Pardon My Striptease to raise money for B.C. Children's Hospital and are happy and excited to take part. As such, Nickelback will be donating $50,000 to the BC Children's Hospital and we invite both the Vancouver Province and the Vancouver Sun to each join with us and match our pledge," says Chad Kroeger on behalf of the band. "Being in our own backyard, the story of Lilee-Jean Putt's fight really hit home. We applaud the The Sun and The Province, which have been invaluable in spreading the word and bringing the challenge to our attention and hope they'll demonstrate the same enthusiasm by each matching our donation in this urgently needed and great local cause!" "But, most importantly," continues Kroeger, "we don't want anyone to lose sight of what this is really about. This is about helping Lilee-Jean Putt and so many other children receiving world class care at our own BC Children's Hospital. We are hopeful others will join us." The song "Pray [for L.J.]" is available now on iTunes and further information on donating can be found at loveforlilee.com.
