PJ HARVEY RELEASES NEW SONG ‘GUILTY

PJArt

PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED FROM THE HOPE SIX DEMOLITION PROJECT SESSIONS

15 July 2016 (Toronto, ON) - A new and previously unreleased song by PJ Harvey titled “Guilty” - taken from The Hope Six Demolition Project sessions – was released on digital platforms worldwide this week. The track was recorded in January 2015 during PJ Harvey’s month long ‘Recording in Progress’ residency at Somerset House, in which audiences were given the opportunity to see Harvey at work with her band and producers as she recorded her ninth studio album - the UK #1 record The Hope Six Demolition Project - in a purpose-built studio. The Hope Six Demolition Project draws from several journeys undertaken by Harvey, who spent time in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. over a four-year period. With the release of the record, MOJO magazine observed that “the expansion of Harvey’s work since her 1992 debut ‘Dry’ has been remarkable, moving from the intimate specifics of the body, gender and sex, through personal mythology and love songs, and into the vast ugly spaces of global politics.” Back in 2011, Harvey performed a song from her Mercury Award winning album Let England Shake on BBC1’s Andrew Marr Show before fellow guest, Prime Minister David Cameron, which itself followed on from an earlier performance of the album title track in front of then Prime Minister Gordon Brown in 2010. On the weekend after the UK voted to leave the European Union, Harvey recited John Donne’s 1624 poem ‘No Man Is An Island’ during her acclaimed headline sets at Down the Rabbit Hole in the Netherlands and Glastonbury Festival in the UK. pjharvey.net
