4 NOVEMBER 2022 (TORONTO, ON) – Maintaining unprecedented momentum this year, gold-certified Nashville-based singer and songwriter Stephen Sanchez reveals a new single entitled “Missing You” with Ashe today via Mercury Records/Republic Records/Universal Music Canada.
Listen to “Missing You” HERE.
On the track, which was produced by Ian Fitchuck (Kacey Musgraves, Joy Oladokun, James Bay) and Konrad Synder, the piano and guitar underscore the undeniable interplay between these two rising powerhouses. Stephen and Ashe trade verses back and forth as their voices entwine on the hook. It bottles the energy of genuine love in lines such as, “There’s no going back to the life that I knew, after one heart is made up from two.”
In talking about the song Stephen said: “This song means a lot to me because I was writing, yes, about a love I remember through my eyes, but also a love through someone else’s eyes. It was something I’d never done before: heard about how in love someone else was and writing from their experience with it. It was exhilarating.” He continues and describes working with Ashe for the first time: “Ashe is one of the most inspiring artists I’ve ever worked with. Full of such tangible joy, It’s the most fun I’ve had writing a song. She is a powerhouse of a vocalist and a troubadour at heart. A true artist with something to say. As a friend, she makes colors more vibrant and love more true. I am grateful to know her and I am honored to have our words immortalized in song.”
On the song and working with Stephen, Ashe said: “‘Missing You’ just fell out. The minute Stephen and I got in the room together, he sat down at the piano and sang to me ‘what if the windows flew off all the buildings and I could not see you again,’ and we disappeared into some writing abyss where there was only love and joy, and as cheesy as it sounds, it just wrote itself. Writing with Stephen is a lot like running around a field at night catching ideas like lightning bugs. It connected me to some childlike, beautiful place that I hope to return to again.”
It lands in the wake of Stephen’s acclaimed Easy On My Eyes EP. The project boasted his breakthrough smash “Until I Found You.” Not only did the latter eclipse 1 billion-plus global streams and over 50 million views on the official music video (watch here), but it also vaulted into the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, Top 20 on the Spotify Global Top 50, #3 at AAA Radio, Top 15 at Top 40 Radio, Top 30 at Hot AC Radio, and Top 25 at AC Radio. Meanwhile, Stephen catapulted to #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters Chart.
Not to mention, Sir Elton John applauded Stephen during his Apple Music Rocket Hour. He professed, “I just fell in love with this song and his voice. It’s such a brilliant song. It’s a throwback to 1950’s music.” Elton invited him onto the show as a special guest, and a fascinating interview ensued. Listen to full interview here on Apple Music.
This year, Stephen has notably lit up television shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and acoustically on GMA3. Meanwhile, MTV handpicked him as its Global PUSH Artist in September, and he was recently nominated for two MTV EMAs for “Best New Artist” and “Best PUSH Artist.” Watch his Global PUSH performance of “Until I Found You” here and mini doc here!
Across Easy On My Eyes, Stephen recounts an unbelievable year since his emergence. He wrote nearly all of the songs on the EP himself and teamed up with Jamie Hartman [James Bay, Lewis Capaldi] and Jon Green [Lady A, Little Big Town] on “Hey Girl.” He then worked with producers Ian Fitchuk [Kacey Musgraves, James Bay] and Konrad Snyder [Madi Diaz, Rainbow Kitten Surprise] in Nashville to bring the EP to life in one-take performances. The project illuminates his talent both as a vocalist and a songwriter.

ABOUT STEPHEN SANCHEZ:
With a dusty baritone as bright as an eternally lit jukebox and tattooed fingers around the fretboard of a rare guitar, Stephen Sanchez tunes into longing and love with the acuity of a tried-and-tested troubadour—yet he’s only 19-years-old. Transcending eras, he writes the kind of songs that can play just as well from your parent’s vintage record player as they could from the main stages of festivals a la Bonnaroo. If somebody told you he just pulled up from the fifties in a gorgeous Caddy, you’d have a hard time disputing it. As the story goes, he initially stirred up early buzz with his very first upload “Lady By The Sea,” going viral on social media and establishing rapport with audiences. Not long after, his original breakout “Until I Found You” properly introduced a spirited signature style. Anchored by a dreamy croon and breezy guitar wrapped in silky harmonies, it has hit over 1 billion global streams between the original, piano version, and duet with pop singer and songwriter Em Beihold. Meanwhile, it currently sits at #38 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, as his monthly listenership has grown to 20 million on Spotify. He also delivered jaw-dropping renditions of “Until I Found You” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and GMA3. Finding his way into the hearts of countless fans worldwide, he continues to captivate on his 2022 EP, Easy On My Eyes [Mercury Records/Republic Records], and more to come.
ABOUT ASHE:
Like a character out of your favorite movie or a novel you can’t put down, Ashe possesses her own mystique rooted in quiet wisdom, yet amplified with vibrance and spirit. For as much as she embodies timeless California cool (northern or southern, take your pick), she’s got enough gusto and moxie to hang on the East Coast or down South. Musically, she slides untouchable hooks over dusty instrumentation, connecting Laurel Canyon eloquence with UK rock scope.
Attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, she kickstarted her journey with the single “Used To It” in 2017 followed by The Rabbit Hole EP a year later. Teaming up with FINNEAS as producer, she reached critical mass on 2019’s Moral of the Story: Chapter 1 EP. The single “Moral of the Story” appeared in NETFLIX’s To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and exploded on streaming platforms, earning RIAA Platinum status in the US and Silver in the UK.
Her 2021 full-length debut, Ashlyn, arrived to widespread critical acclaim from Variety, Nylon, Billboard, and more. Beyond tallying nearly 2 billion total streams, she took over television with performances on TODAY, Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, American Idol, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Now, she turns the page on another chapter of her story with her sophomore album Rae, led by singles “Another Man’s Jeans,” “Angry Woman,” “Love Is Letting Go (feat. Diane Keaton),” and “omw.” [Mom + Pop].
