THREE STOMPIN’ TOM CONNORS COLLECTIONS TO BE REISSUED MARCH 03
FIRST TIME ON CD: 15 TRACKS SELECTED FROM 1970 VINYL BOX SET
PLUS SEMINAL RELEASES BUD THE SPUD AND MORE OF THE STOMPIN’ TOM PHENOMENON
18 FEBRUARY 2015 (Toronto, ON) – Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, is proud to announce the March 03 release of three collections of Stompin’ Tom Connors’ timeless music. These include the evergreen Bud The Spud and More Of The Stompin’ Tom Phenomenon as well as a new collection, Stompin’ Tom Sings Old Time Favourites, Volume I, featuring 15 tracks hand-picked by his family from Connors’ five-LP Dominion Records box set, Stompin’ Tom Sings 60 Old Time Favourites, originally released in 1970 and never before available in digital formats. Around 1969, before The Phenomenon, Connors recorded 60 of his favourite old-time Country and Western songs. These were songs he had grown up with, sung to him by his mother and precious to a child raised with little in the way of material comfort. He took these songs into his heart and made them his own, performing them across Canada as he embarked on his professional career and adding his own self-penned songs alongside. Connors never failed to champion classic songs from the early part of the 20th century, lest they become lost, even as his own material gained classic status and joined the canon of beloved roots music. The Connors family continues to curate the massive archive of recordings left by Stompin’ Tom since his death two years ago. Fans who miss the man will be cheered to know there are more planned releases of music long out of print and some never previously released, as well as re-issues of STC classics on compact disc and on vinyl. The music of this proud Canadian will live on forever and, as Connors himself would say, “this song ain’t over yet!” Stompin’ Tom Sings Old Time Favourites, Volume I- Apple Blossom Time In Annapolis Valley
