Early Praise for HVN:

“Marine” is a fluid and buoyant offering, with HVN’s voice gliding through a wave of glitchy Auto-Tune and rapping with a raspy flow. — Complex

“naturally moves through styles with ease, at one moment spitting relaxed bars…and the next bearing his soul.” – Rolling Stone

21 Rising Artist To Watch in 2021 — Pigeons & Planes

05 NOVEMBER 2021 (TORONTO, ON) — Houston rapper and creative HVN, has teamed up with director and artist Noah Dillon (Luka Sabatt/Hot Mess, Off White, Maison Martin Margiela) for the official music video for recently released track “Marine.”. Featuring HVN, Noah and their crew in an empty parking lot, the video ebbs between special cuts and avant garde framing that brilliantly matches the song’s pensive lyrics. “Marine” serves as a follow up from HVN’s recent breakout tracks “Draco” and “Backhand” as well as his feature on “Smoke” off of Don Toliver’s Life Of A Don alongside SoFaygo.

About HVN —

Houston, TX rapper HVN’s story revolves around persistence. The multi-faceted creative started his burgeoning career with a clothing brand at 15 years old spurred on by a six-month recovery period in hospital after suffering a stroke due to his sickle cell disease. HVN couldn’t walk, talk, eat, or go to the bathroom himself, and was stuck in a hospital bed where he planned up the ‘Don’t Die’ brand. In the years to come, ‘Don’t Die’ grew from a clothing label into a catalyst for the music and fashion scenes in Houston, hosting parties and live performances for independent artists who couldn’t find venues to perform their music.

In late 2019, HVN decided to make a project of his own after years of being in the studio with friends, freestyling for fun and watching them create. These early sessions eventually formed his 2020 debut project, Welcome to HVN. The 7-song album — led by standout cut, “Backhand” — made an immediate impact upon release garnering cosigns from Virgil Abloh, Kevin Abstract, Taco Bennett, Don Toliver, and more. The response pushed HVN to take music more seriously and was followed up by the November 2020 single “Demon,” featuring a Trey Lyons-directed music video with a cameo from Taco Bennett. Now signed to Field Trip Recordings/Interscope Records, he is currently at work on a follow-up EP. Recently, HVN was featured on “Smoke” off Don Toliver’s Life Of A Don as well as modelling for the Heron Preston x Calvin Klein campaign alongside Nas, Paloma Elsesser and more. Spotlighted by the likes of Rolling Stone, Pigeons & Planes, Houston Chronicle, Hypebeast and more, further establishing himself as a creative force coming out of Houston.
