LIGHTS’ ALBUM COVERING SIDE B OF DRAKE’S SCORPION AVAILABLE ON ALL MAJOR STREAMING PLATFROMS TODAY

10 August 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Today, prolific alt-pop musician Lights releases her cover album of Drake’s record-breaking Scorpion (Side B) via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Previously released on SoundCloud, the album is now available on all major streaming platforms HERE. Inspired by what many consider Drake’s seminal album, Lights recorded, produced, engineered and released the brooding and melodic covers just two weeks after Scorpion’s much anticipated release. Her viral release of Scorpion (Side B) has already racked over 500k streams.

“I’ve been daring myself to cover an entire Drake album for a couple years, and with Scorpion it was now or never,” Lights reflected. “I gave myself the first two weeks of its release to track a cover album I would be proud of and damn did I have fun. It was melodic and emotional and full of bad words, everything I'd hoped for, twisted into intimate acoustic versions. By the time I was finished I wanted the whole world to hear it. Stoked to get this on streaming platforms so people can get even sadder.”

Lights’ most recent album, Skin&Earth, is her fourth studio album and marks her second consecutive JUNO Award win for “Pop Album of the Year.” This summer she has been touring in support of the graphic novel release of Skin&Earth; a story she wrote, illustrated, inked, colored and lettered as a companion piece to the album. Last month it was announced that Skin&Earth will be adapted for television by Entertainment One, with Lights serving as an exec producer on the project.
